Most Popular Golf Clubs in Japan: 2026 Sales and 2025 Used Rankings

The most popular golf clubs in Japan in 2026, by category: store sales data, Kakaku.com popularity and Golf Partner used sales. Japanese brands lead in irons and wedges. These are the Japan-focused models worth tracking down.

Japanese golfers mostly buy American drivers and putters: PING, TaylorMade, Odyssey. Irons and wedges tell a different story. In the first-half 2026 store-sales top 10s, Srixon and XXIO hold iron places, and Fourteen and Kasco hold wedge places. Bridgestone's 258CBP shows up in the July 2026 monthly iron list, at No. 9.

What this means for you

  • Want Japan-only gear? Start with irons and wedges, not drivers or putters.
  • On your shortlist: Bridgestone 258CBP, PRGR 01, Fourteen wedges, Kasco Dolphin.
  • Hunting a bargain? Golf Partner's used racks are full of older XXIO sets and classics like the WHITE HOT #5 from ¥5,980.

Checked in Tokyo on 2026-10-15. I read three Japanese sources: Yano Research Institute's store-sales rankings as published by Sportsnavi, Kakaku.com's weekly popularity rankings, and Golf Partner's 2025 used-club sales rankings. All prices were checked on 2026-10-15.

Which Japanese golf ranking should you trust?

Use store sales for "what sold", Kakaku.com for "what people look at", Golf Partner for "what keeps selling used".

No single list tells you what Japan buys. Each source measures something different. Knowing which one you are reading saves a lot of confusion.

How the tables below were built. The YPS H1 2026 top 10 is the backbone for each category. Notes are added where a model also appears on Kakaku.com this week or in Golf Partner's 2025 used list.

The "why it sells" lines come from Sportsnavi's editors or Golf Partner's shop comments. Each one is labelled with its source. Kakaku.com product pages had too few buyer reviews to use.

These counts come from the Japanese-brand entries in each H1 2026 YPS top 10.

One classification note. Cleveland belongs to Dunlop, part of Sumitomo Rubber, the same Japanese parent as Srixon and XXIO. I still count Cleveland as global, because it was founded in the US and sells worldwide as a US brand.

That chart is the whole story in short. If you are a 12-handicap hunting for something you cannot find at home, Japan's driver racks will feel familiar. The iron and wedge walls will not.

What are the most popular drivers in Japan in 2026?

PING and TaylorMade, just like at home. XXIO is the Japanese name that holds on.

(MOI is moment of inertia: how much the head resists twisting on off-centre hits.)

The August 2026 monthly list looks different. XXIO 14 climbs to No. 3. Two more Japanese names enter: Mizuno JPX ONE at No. 9 and PRGR RS MAX DUO at No. 10.

If you want something Japan-focused, note PRGR. It is a Japanese brand, and its RS MAX DUO made that August top 10.

Two currencies, one caution. The Dunlop US store lists the XXIO 14+ driver at US$799.99 with a Speeder NX DST shaft. On 2026-10-15 it showed an estimated ship date of 10/22/2026.

Kakaku.com's lowest price for the standard XXIO 14 in R flex was ¥61,050 in the same week. These are two different models in the family, so this is not like-for-like. Compare the exact head and shaft before you assume Japan is cheaper.

"Global line" means the head is sold in your country. It does not mean the stock shaft is the same. Japan spec usually means a lighter stock shaft, softer flex labels and sometimes a different length.

Buying a global model in Japan? Check the Japanese spec page first.

Yamaha's DRIVESTAR TYPE/D tied for No. 7 on Kakaku.com this week, at ¥29,502. Golf Digest reported that Yamaha is ending its golf equipment business. Shipments to Japanese retailers ended at the end of June 2026, and after-sales service continues during the warranty period.

What you see on shelves now is remaining stock.

What are the most popular iron sets in Japan in 2026?

Srixon ZXi5 is No. 1, and Japanese brands hold 4 of the top 10.

This is where Japan's own brands take over.

The H1 2026 No. 1 is the previous ZXi5. The 2026 model only went on sale on 2026-09-12, so it is not in the YPS sales data.

This week's Kakaku.com list agrees. Srixon ZXi5 (2026 model) is No. 1 as a 6-piece set, lowest price ¥121,000. Bridgestone 258CBP is No. 2 at ¥89,790, and XXIO 14 is No. 3 at ¥90,860.

Bridgestone also places the 242CB+ at No. 5, the BX2HT at No. 9 and the 241CB at No. 12.

Sumitomo Rubber released the new ZXi5 on 2026-09-12. The suggested price is ¥171,600 including tax for six steel-shafted pieces, #5 to PW. With carbon shafts it is ¥178,200.

One month after launch, the Kakaku low sits about ¥50,000 below the maker's price. In Japan, that gap between list and street price is normal.

My read: Bridgestone is the most interesting row here for an overseas buyer. The 258CBP shows up in the July 2026 YPS list at No. 9, and both it and the 242CB+ sit in Kakaku's weekly top 5.

Bridgestone's December 2024 US relaunch was built around the 220 MB, 221 CB, 222 CB+ and BRM2 wedges. The 258CBP was not part of that line. Check your local Bridgestone site before you assume you can buy it at home.

PRGR 01 (2026), No. 7 in July, is in the same position.

What are the most popular wedges in Japan in 2026?

Vokey is No. 1, but Japanese brands take 4 of the top 10, three of them Fourteen.

("JDM retailer" means a shop that sells Japan domestic market clubs abroad.)

The Kasco Dolphin is the one Japanese wedge I would put on any list. It sells in the top 5 against Vokey and Cleveland. Its loft range runs up to 64°.

The used rankings add one more Japan-focused detail. Golf Partner's own-brand NEXGEN FORGED WEDGE (2022) was No. 7 in December 2025 used wedge sales. As it is Golf Partner's own brand, a Golf Partner shop is the natural place to start looking.

What are the most popular putters in Japan in 2026?

The same putters you see at home. No Japanese brand made the H1 2026 top 10.

Rank (YPS H1 2026) Model Brand origin Outside Japan

2 Odyssey Ai-ONE TRI-BEAM Global Global line

This week on Kakaku.com, Odyssey (TRTL and Ai-DUAL models) and the Spider TOUR X TORCHED fill the top.

So for putters, treat Japan as a place to buy used. It is not where you find something new and different.

What do Japanese golfers buy used at Golf Partner?

Older, forgiving models, and a lot of XXIO.

Golf Partner says it holds about 550,000 clubs in stock (在庫数55万本). Its used rankings show which models keep selling years after launch.

5 of top 10: XXIO Golf Partner used irons, Dec 2025

Golf Partner's shop comments explain the top picks briefly:

  • WHITE HOT #5: a long seller, popular for more than 20 years, with a soft feel.
  • Vokey SM9: the No. 1 used wedge in all 12 months of 2025.
Golf Partner's 2025 annual used-club ranking, top 3 per category
Golf Partner’s 2025 annual used-club ranking, top 3 per category(golfpartner.jp・2026-10-15時点の画面)

XXIO took five places in the December 2025 used iron list. The 2018, 2014 and 2012 models sat at Nos. 4 to 6. The 2020 and 2024 models were Nos. 9 and 10.

This is the part most English coverage misses. In Japan, a ten-year-old XXIO iron set is a normal used purchase, and supply is deep. If you are an older or slower-swinging golfer who wants a light, high-launching set, a used XXIO is easier to find than almost anything else on the rack.

Golf Partner is a XEBIO GROUP company. It holds a used-goods dealer licence from the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission, No. 301089905447.

Which Japanese club should you look for?

Match the row to the kind of golfer you are.

  • If you want a driver: expect mostly what your home shop already sells. Check the stock shaft and length on the Japanese spec page, since Japan spec drivers often come with lighter shafts.
  • If you want irons nobody at your club has: look at Bridgestone 258CBP or 242CB+ and PRGR 01. All three sell well in Japan; check your local maker site to see whether they are sold where you live.
  • If you want a wedge: Fourteen DJ-6, FR-3 and FR-5 and the Kasco Dolphin DW-125G are Japanese best sellers. You will mostly reach them through a JDM retailer or by shopping in Japan.
  • If you want a used bargain: Golf Partner prices older generations low. A WHITE HOT #5 starts from ¥5,980, Vokey SM8 from ¥5,980, XXIO (2018) irons from ¥34,980.
  • If you want a putter: the models match home. Buy used in Japan only if the price beats your local market.
How we chose

Store sales set the order; the other two sources add context.

Rank order follows the YPS H1 2026 store-sales top 10, as published by Sportsnavi. Store sales are the closest measure here to what was actually bought.

Kakaku.com ranks and prices are a second view, for the week of 2026/10/08 to 10/14 only. They change every week. Golf Partner data covers 2025 used sales.

"Outside Japan" says "Global line" only when the brand sells the model worldwide. Where the maker's overseas lineup could not be confirmed, the column tells you to check your local site.

How do you buy a Japan-only golf club from overseas?

Check your home maker site first, then pick a route: proxy, JDM retailer or buying in Japan.

Shortlist Sold at home? Proxy JDM retailer Buy in Japan

Route Suits you if Good to check before you buy
Home-country importer or official store You want local warranty and support (for example, the Dunlop US store for XXIO 14+) Whether the head and stock shaft match the Japan spec you want
Proxy buying (Yahoo Auctions, Japanese shops) You want a Japan-only model or a used Japan-spec set Fakes, no maker warranty, customs duty at home, shipping cost
JDM retailer such as Fairway Golf You want Japan-only models with a seller who ships abroad Final landed price after duty and shipping
Buying in Japan, new or used at Golf Partner You are visiting and can carry a bag home Tax-free eligibility (ask the shop), airline baggage rules, what your home customs asks

← Scroll sideways to see more →

(Proxy buying means a Japan-based service buys the club for you and ships it abroad.)

Visitor tax-free rules and duty rules at home both change. Read the current pages from Japan's tax authority and your own customs service before you fly.

Recap

  1. In H1 2026 store sales, Japan's top drivers and putters are mostly global brands. Only XXIO 14 made the driver top 10.
  2. Japanese brands hold 4 of 10 places in both irons and wedges. Srixon ZXi5 was No. 1 in irons (the previous model; the 2026 version went on sale on 2026-09-12).
  3. Bridgestone 258CBP, PRGR 01, the Fourteen wedges and the Kasco Dolphin sell well in Japan. Check your local maker site to see whether they are sold where you live.
  4. Japan's used market is full of older XXIO generations and cheap classics such as the WHITE HOT #5 (from ¥5,980).
  5. Kakaku.com measures clicks, not sales. Read it as "what people are looking at this week".

Your next step: take the Japan-focused rows from the iron and wedge tables and check each on your home-country maker site today. Whatever is not listed goes on your proxy, Fairway Golf or Golf Partner shopping list.
